Dear Parents and Students,
There will be no after school program for the first three weeks of the school. The After School Program will start on September 15 Monday.

| Boys Camp at Cho-Yeh Was A Blast!!! |
Harmony Schools Summer Camp was a blast for our students. Through fun camp activities such as swimming, blobbing, towers climbing, low and high ropes, wake-boarding, beach volleyball, archery, pedal carting, kayaking, video game tournaments, funny games, skeet shooting, fishing, soccer and basketball, campers were able to build relationships with students from other Harmony Schools and their teachers in terms of Harmony Family Spirit. Thanks to all dedicated staff and counselors who helped students to build relationships throughout the camp. Pictures

| Summer Reading Assignment for Students Entering Grades Four through Ten |

Reading opens the doorway to knowledge and discovery. In order to encourage our students to read, below you will find the summer reading lists and assignment for students entering grades four through ten. All students will choose one book from the list for their grade level next year and complete the summer reading assignment. English teachers will collect this assignment during the first week of the 2008-2009 academic year. If you have questions, please contact your language arts teacher or Mr. Adamson at sadamson@harmonytx.org. Enjoy your summer and have fun reading!

| Upcoming Event: Summer Time Machine Reading Challenge |

HSA PTO is proud to present a summer reading incentive program through the City of Fort Worth Public Library. Southwest regional public librarian will be here on Thursday May 29 at 6:30 to sign you up for the Summer Time Machine Summer Reading Challenge and a public library card for "free". You will receive great prizes from the City of Fort Worth. Plus, HSA PTO will also offer the following:
read 15 books – 1 free dress day/pizza read 30 books – 2 free dress days/pizza read 45 books – 3 free dress days/pizza
and get entered to win: an MP3 player

| Art Supply Fee Due ASAP |
To reduce the cost of art supplies and eliminate the hassle of shoping for them, HSA-FW decided to buy art supplies in bulk for the coming school year.
$25 fee is going to be charged for grades 1-10 to cover the cost of art supplies. Please turn into the front office by Wed, June 4th noon.
Also, all art materials not picked up by noon, Wednesday, June 4 will be considered as a donation to the art room for next year’s use.

| K-3rd Science & Social Studies Fair |
Kindergarten through 3rd Grade did an excellent job at this year's campus-wide K-3 Science/Social Studies Fair. All participants received an award for their hard work and enthusiasm, and Third, Second, and First Place certificates were awarded to students who competed with their own class. The award ceremony was an enjoyable event.

| El Paso Trip Was Lots of Fun |
The students have been to White Sands, NM, played at HSA-El Paso Campus’ GYM, and hiked at the Carlsbad Caverns, which was amazing.

| Harmony Around The World was held on May 15th |
HSA–Fort Worth hosted a terrific event last night; the 2nd Annual Harmony Around The World. Since it was established in 2006, HSA-FW is proud to be home to a diverse and extensive selection of cultures and nations. Our students and faculty brought to life more than 20 different nations during the celebration. All country exhibits were well prepared, the food was delicious, and the performances were eye-catching. Thank you all for coming and making this event wonderful.

| Cinco De Mayo |
HSA-FW celebrated Cinco de Mayo on May 5th with students, parents, friends and faculty of HSA. It was a wonderful celebration with different activities. Right after the Mexican Lunch (Thanks to PTO); Cinco de Mayo started with Flag Parade of 9th graders. Kindergarten had a parade right before the salute to the Flags of Mexico, United States and Texas. The event continued with traditional dances and students had a blast with Rock Bottom’s (Aatish A. (7B) – Nissan B. (5B) – Subrat B. (5A) ) Final Performance. Congratulations to Mr. Mullini, Ms. Ruiz and Ms. Ochoa for their contributes to the event. Pictures

| Scarborough Festival |
Scarborough Festival was tremendous and a blast for 8th and 9th grades today. Harmony Science Academy Fort Worth rewarded 8th and 9th grades for a job well done on TAKS test. This year’s reward for excelling on the reading TAKS test is to go to the Scarborough Fair and experience the thrill of Renaissance life. Congratulations 8th and 9th grades, keep up the good work!!

| Congratulations: Silver Medal at International Science Olympiad (I-SWEEEP) |
The 2008 International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering & Environment Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP) organized by Cosmos Foundation (Harmony Schools System) was held in Houston this past weekend. More than a thousand projects were submitted from all around the globe (58 countries + 42 states of U.S) to compete at this tremendous event. We are proud to be part of this organization. | Congratulations: 1st Place in Texas State Science Olympiad !!! |
The Statewide Science Olympiad was held at Texas A&M University past weekend and more than 500 hundred students from all over Texas have competed. Ashley B. and Jonathan C. from 8A did a tremendous job and won 1st place in one of the Math oriented competitions (We’ve Got Your Number). Congratulations Tigers!! Keep up the good work.

| A&M Trip Was Full of Fun… |
Eight HSA students went on a trip to College Station and Texas A&M University this weekend. A&M University was found to be academically sound and culturally diverse and rich. The unique college atmosphere was not surprising for the legendary college. The physics fair was pretty interesting and the talk given by the former NASA astronaut was inspiring. Overall, it was a nice learning experience for everyone. Pictures

| Career Day Held On April 18 |
Friday, April 18, we had career day at Harmony Science Academy – Fort Worth. The event included guest speakers from the Sherriff’s horse back division (with horses and police car), an EMT (with ambulance), Careflite (including helicopter), respiratory therapist, professional artist, entrepreneur/business owner, lawyer, financial analyst, university professor, and others. An assembly held in the gynamnatorium and guests visited classrooms to answer student’s questions. We all enjoyed the event and learned more about different career opportunities. | HSA 2nd Annual Parent Picnic Held on April 12 |
HSA 2nd Annual Family Picnic was held last Saturday. We gather again as “Harmony Family” and had a great time. Parent vs. Teacher volleyball game was such a challenge for the staff but Staff took care of the business for this year. Thanks to all parents, students and staff members for being with us and hope to meet you all at the next one!!

| Congratulations: Odyssey of the Mind Team |
On Saturday, April 5th, the HSA Ft. Worth Odyssey of the Mind competed in the State Tournament in Houston. The team competed against many teams from all over the state and finished in 8th place! The students did a terrific job, especially for their first year and they are already looking forward to next year. We are so proud of you!

State science fair qualified students from HSA-FW are participated in ExxonMobile Texas Science and Engineering Fair in San Antonio last weekend, April 10th, 11th and 12th. John C. of 9A won special award and Aleigh D. of 9A got recognation for her work.
